Just Give Me Good Old Pen and Paper

15 Comments/ 86/ 0

I am a fan of the good old fashioned pen and paper. Now mind you – I LOVE technology. I love my MacBook Air. I love all things that make my life easier and my computer definitely does that for me. I can’t imagine being in 2020 without some type of computer.

However, I must admit that there are times when the good old fashioned pen and paper are my top choice. I have a very unorganized system of keeping my addresses organized . I “thought” it was organized and that I had a good record until I checked my phone and discovered that with updates my contacts seemed to have gotten a little wonky. That is the technical term for not correct for those of you who don’t know my lingo.

So I am on a quest to update things a bit and have already started asking people for the millionth time what their address is. My plan is to not only record it in my phone and on my mailing list but to also get an organized written method that I can eyeball without the means of technology. Now, of course this may just mean I print out something that is on my computer but at least I will have a hard copy, right? Because it distresses me to not have it all organized.

In other news it seems that requests are on the uptick to post on my blog. I usually just ignore those requests that come in as they are usually spam or sent by bots. Most of them have absolutely nothing to do with my little blog here and would have no value. The few times I have blogged for profit it hasn’t really felt all that great. Being a part of sponsored trips is great and a lot of fun but I honestly don’t seek them out. As my friend Jeni from JeniEats says — we are recreational bloggers. I am unwilling to let someone else write content for my blog because quite frankly – I have enough of my own stuff to say. “Smile”

So pardon me while I dust off my pen and paper and go jot down some meaningful words for a later post. But first – let me watch my hummingbirds a bit. See you next week right back here on It’s Just Life – where we find the extraordinary in the ordinary every single day.

I spend a lot of time on my computer but I also need to write with pen and paper too. I still have an old fashioned address book. (as well as addresses saved digitally) There is a connection between the brain and the pen in your hand that inspires creativity. When I get stuck, I turn off the computer and sit down and scribble. No one else would be able to read it, and sometimes I can´t, but it gets the creative juices flowing.

I am sure there are a lot of people like us who like the pen and paper at times. Have a great weekend!

Thanks so much! It is a good routine for me—- kind of like your room changes.

I love writing with pen and paper and that’s why I keep a journal. It’s soothing to write things out and doodle if I feel like it. But my addresses are organized in a google doc and saved on google drive so I can access it from all my devices.

That’s how I have mine saved as well but they definitely need an overhaul!

I write mostly on my computer. Except I do have that gratitude journal. And yesterday I pulled out paper to work on name writing with my four-year-old granddaughter. 🙂

I have a hard time writing with pen and paper. I do better with pencil and paper, but even then my handwriting is terrible. Many people say illegible. And I can’t write as fast as my thoughts come, so typing on a laptop works much better for me. That said my address book is paper, and it’s a mess. I should go clean it up but I’d want to do that in a new address book. Wonder if they even make those now.

They do make them but they aren’t all that easy to find. We got one for my brother because he had filled up all the “c” section with all of our addresses. 😊

I’m with you on all counts on this one – my computer and phone are great, but I rely a lot on paper and pen, which is why I still have a desk calendar to keep me straight! I too am a recreational blogger and honestly, I find posts from my blogging buddies (like you) are so much more interesting than the paid blogs.

There is nothing better than receiving a handwritten letter, note, or card.. I must admit I do not do as many as I should. It was funny you mentioned a address book I just bought one because my old one is a mess. Looking forward to getting it originated again.. I love your picture of the hummingbirds.

I am all about the journals and I write a daily to do list. I found myself looking at my phone too much during the day because I kept everything on it that I decided I needed to go back “old school” and write things out each day. And I am a proud recreational blogger too!

Journals are the best but I have been very sporadic with them. Old school is a great way to be!
