More Glimpses of the Past

6 Comments/ 71/ 0

I have the privilege of having so many scrapbooks and albums from my parents and every once in awhile I take the time to look through the fragile pages. It gives me the chance to see who they were when they were younger and how much I didn’t really know about them. Oh if only I had asked more questions and taken more time to document things. I love having these glimpses into their past and the things that they loved.

One thing they loved was going to shows. My Daddy went to Drew University for seminary so they found themselves living in New Jersey and close enough to New York City to go for the occasional trip to see shows and take in the sights. I wonder what Daddy would think about Micah and Wendy living in NYC and Jersey City. He would love it, I bet.

My mom kept all the playbills and programs, tickets and receipts. It’s like a step back in time.

I guess I know where I got my love of theater and performances.

What about you? Do you have any scrapbooks that mean a lot to you? I would love to read about them so leave me a comment and Comment for a Cause for Muddy Sneakers.

These are precious. I saved a lot of programs for the many performances I’ve attended but finally threw them away. I wonder if my kids would have liked to see them?

What a treasure trove of memories and history. I have my mom’s journals, my treasure from her.

One of my cousins took over the family archives. Mother left the “scrapbooks” and albums to her. Nobody in my family ever did “scrapbooking” as a craft, though everybody has a box or drawer or folder with souvenir papers and pictures in it.
