The Abundant Life

7 Comments/ 83/ 0

Abundant. According to Dictionary.com the meaning of this word is as follows:

  1. present in great quantity; more than adequate; oversufficient: an abundant supply of water.
  2. 2.well supplied with something; abounding: a river abundant in salmon.
  3. richly supplied, as with resources: an abundant land.

I have been in a contemplative mood lately for some reason. Maybe it is because I seem to have some time on my hands. But thinking about the life that I have been living makes me realize that in the midst of this Covid – 19 pandemic I have been living the abundant life. I really have.

I am grateful

To live abundantly means to be well supplied and to have more than is needed. I definitely have that and realize that there are many, more than many, who are struggling. The people that have been on the fringe of things are the ones who are suffering even more during this difficult time.

I can not fix everyone’s lack of abundance. If I could I would but maybe it helps me to just simply recognize that in the midst of all of this I can share what I do have.

A good friend sent me a little surprise package the other day. It included some tea and a little devotional book and it added to my abundance. My heart was truly touched and I realized that truly it is those little acts of kindness that make the difference. Whether it is making cards for area assisted living residents, helping with a mask drive or a canned food drive for our area it is really quite simple to give and live the abundant life.

I find that when I am in service to others I am living abundantly. My energy rises and my own bucket gets filled when I am able to give back in some way. We have been so very blessed over the years with abundant living and I do not take that for granted. There have definitely been lean times and times when I doubted living the abundant life. But then I realize that abundant living is not about “things”. It is about so much more than that.

Abundant living is going above and beyond. It is sharing the love of God in whatever way I can with others. It does not have to be linked to money or material things – instead it is linked to the heart and that spirit of giving.

Fill your bucket. Live abundantly today and recognize that abundant living is about much more than things. Oh, and by the way, I love you. Thanks for stopping by.

You have a way of putting things in perspective and I love how you share your abundance and love with others. I am grateful every day that even though things aren’t easy right now, we are safe and have all the comforts of home.

Another beautiful blog post!!! It feels so good to give—and I love that you connected giving to non-material gifts as well. A kind word can mean so much! Lovely!

Thank you Beth- for sharing your thoughts abundantly. I was reading an entertaining fiction book and one of the characters-a handsome Irish guy- said “May the most you wish for be the least you get.”

I love you, too, Beth Ann. For as long as I have known you (since you made that drive to Faribault for my poetry reading), I have felt blessed by you. Your giving and loving spirit, your compassion and kindness, your ability to uplift and serve others are remarkable. Truly you bless many by simply being you.

Those of us who live in abundance must bless others with our giving and you, my friend, personify that. I know God blesses you for your service to others and for your kind, generous heart.
