Walking into Spring in Brevard, North Carolina

11 Comments/ 30/ 0

Spring is coming to Brevard, North Carolina.

This past weekend another winter storm hit the country.  I have lost track of the name of the storm because there have been so many this year.  Living in the mountains of North Carolina does not exempt us from cooler weather and snow.  While we have not had nearly as much as my friends in Iowa have had this year we have had a couple of times when the snow covered the driveway and I opted to just stay home.

Our driveway is long and steep.  Even though I have a Subaru Outback I have become a wimp driving in the snow and ice in North Carolina.  If I don’t have to go out I won’t.

But spring is coming to North Carolina and after a recent dentist appointment I stopped for a walk at Silvermont Mansion.I was happy to see that the flowers are popping, the leaves are budding and the backdrop is changing from brown to green.  There is nothing, absolutely nothing, like spring.

My nose and sinuses are also alerting me to the arrival of spring.  I can cope with the seasonal allergies if the result is the glorious display of colors that are just beginning to make their appearance across the area.

Is spring coming to your area?  Are you as anxious as I am?

You must be delighted to see signs of Spring. Your pictures are excellent! We took the dog for a walk on the beach this morning and noticed people sunning themeselves and umbrellas out. We tend to jump right into summer here, but the Spring flowers are wonderful.

We had another cold snap over the weekend but hopefully it is on its way out. I am so over cold and gloom. 🙂 Glad you had some beach time with Dot –perfect place for her!

We can’t wait to get back to NC to experience summer with tons of fresh veggies. The weather has warmed here in Montana and the snow is melted (almost) from our yard, but we are expecting the other shoe to drop. Snow in May is not unheard of. But I want another spring filled with lilacs and peonies before we leave in May.

Happy to see the flowers but I’m sick of seeing the 30 degrees on my thermometer outside! 🙁

Seems like Spring, up here anyway, is crawling and not walking!

That’s a lot of beautiful flowers blooming. What a visual delight for these winter weary Minnesota eyes.

What beautiful pics! Spring is a sight for sore eyes for sure! I can’t agree more about staying home when it’s icy, there’s no reason to leave if ya’ don’t have to!

Congrats to Val! Spring still feels a long ways away – glad we didn’t get that Iowa snow storm too. Love the flower photos.

Oh pretty, pretty! I spent some time walking this weekend to see the progress of spring at different altitudes. I like the way this year’s unusually bipolar weather has kept the forsythia going. Each bush usually stays yellow for two days at best, but this year I’m still seeing yellow, after two weeks!

Bipolar weather is definitely a good way to describe it! I love forsythia and saw some in radiant bloom over the weekend here in NC. Love that pop of yellow!
