What I Am Loving Lately

17 Comments/ 89/ 1

Every once in a while I like to share some of the things that I am loving. It could be books, music, food or podcasts but it’s a great way to share a post that lets my readers into my life just a little bit more. Like I don’t share enough of my life with you already, right? Here it goes.

I am reading a really fun and light book series by Lauren Elliott called the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery Series. Based in a – you guessed it – bookshop these are just plain fun books to read. Owner Addie Greyborne finds herself in unusual circumstances time and time again and of course murder is involved. I needed a light reading series and I am halfway through the four offerings that this author has written to date in the series . Fun books and fun characters that make me smile. Oh and there is a tea shop next to the bookstore so win win again. You can check out the author’s page by clicking here.

I often share my love of podcasts on the blog and this one has me captivated currently. Birds Eye View is the first podcast made by women in the Darwin Correctional Centre. I seem to be drawn to prison podcasts for some reason (EarHustle) and this one is really a good one. Check it out if you are interested in hearing some pretty interesting stories.

Let’s see –what else? Currently I am eating a lot of fresh veggies and fruits and thoroughly enjoying our Misfits Market boxes which I have been getting every other week. We also have been visiting farm markets like Rooster Head Farm Store. I just made an amazing Shakshuka which I may have shared on the blog before. Just look at this goodness. Yum. So easy and a great breakfast or any time meal actually. I served with a bit of those little Naan breads to sop up all the good sauce and it was amazing if I must say so myself. Here is a link to the recipe I used.

I also got my hair cut and colored for the second time since March and boy am I happy that I was able to see Hailey. It is always such a great day when you get a fresh haircut but something about getting it done during Covid makes it even better. Of course I am masked and everyone in the salon is super careful so even though I know there are risks involved I feel like they are doing everything to keep their customers and themselves safe. Now if this picture doesn’t scare you I don’t know what will.

Walking to the salon I noticed this sign on the sidewalk outside one of our favorite restaurants, Postero, in Hendersonville. I loved it and thought it would be a great way to end this post. Stay well, my friends.

I don’t think I could read 4 books at once. I have a hard enough time remembering when I’m reading one and stop to do something else.

Well I am reading them one after another but I do usually have several books going at a time. I like a challenge.

Thanks for the Shakshuka recipe. Perfect for a vegetarian meal. I´m always looking for something new and different. I think you should try out for a sci-fi movie!! The sign outside the restaurant is perfect. Have a great day my friend. xo

Hope the Shakshuka recipe turns out well for you. I love it. And yes—I do look like I should be in an alien movie or something! Fortunately that was short lived.

I love when you share a out your misfit boxes. I wish we had something like that nearby. We have a few fresh veggies stands but truthfully, after visiting farmers market in NC, I have not much interest in what’s offered here. It’s just not as good and tasty.

The produce here is pretty good, I must say. I got some fennel in my box last week and still have to use it. I don’t have any great ideas!

Ohhh. Fennel. Just look up some recipes. It would probably be great with some Italian sausage or something.

That sign is great. Love humor. I have yet to get my hair cut during COVID. But good for you to do so. Twice.

The sign was pretty humorous. Yes — twice to the stylist and I felt very safe both times. It is funny what I am willing to do and what I am not willing to do but I trust Hailey and they have a really good system at the salon. Plus if you had seen my hair –you would have run in the other direction!

The sign made me giggle for sure. This mask is one of many –I have a nice collection going now. Wish I didn’t have to.
