What’s On My Wall

12 Comments/ 91/ 0

It’s been awhile since I have posted a What’s On My Wall post and I have something new that I absolutely love that is on my wall now. I have to share. What makes it even better is that it was painted by a good friend and that makes it even better.

When I saw this in my neighbor Elaine’s house when I was checking on her kitty earlier this year while she traveled I fell in love with it even if it was not finished. I told her I loved it and would love to buy it if it was for sale. My sweet husband arranged to get it for my birthday and the rest is history. It now resides in my living room by the doors to the deck and I see multiple times a day. I love it.

Artist: Elaine Omann

The picture is one that she painted from a photograph that she took when she went on a trip to Slovenia. Elaine’s heritage is Slovenian and to have this beautiful picture that she painted is such a wonderful gift. I imagine it would look better on a darker color of wall but this is what I have right now and no plans to paint in the near future. Plus I wanted to enjoy it all the time and not stick it someplace I would not see it.

What do you have on your wall that is something extra special? I would love to hear all about it so leave me a comment and Comment for a Cause – Transylvania Tomorrow.

That is a very special painting and looks great on your wall. I love paintings that mean something. One of my favourites was painted by a friend of mine, long deceased, and it is of the Alberta badlands. So when I look at it, which is every day, it makes me think of her and my dad’s ranch which contained badlands. Also it is a bit of home in my Spanish house. Elaine Omann is very talented.

I love your story about your painting and what it means to you. I agree–when we have things in our home that remind us of someone or of someplace special we are so blessed, aren’t we? Thanks for sharing your story!

What a happy story! Yes, having a piece of art that means so much on different levels- perfect. And I do like this painting. You can see it and it would make you think different things each time. I’m really attached to most of my art. Photos by my son, paintings by family and friends, even great pictures that my younger son bought at the art auction on a cruise! (When will that happen again?) all make me happy.

I grew up with parents who appreciated art and who shared it with us. Even though they didn’t have expensive pieces most of their pieces were ones that had meaning to them. One still hangs in my mom’s room in Memory Lane–an amazing chalk drawing done by a family friend for their wedding. That painting has survived the test of time and still looks viivd and bright and even though my mom does not remember the history I have to hope that sometime when she sees it in her room she has a glimmer of a memory of what it has meant to her.

This is another wonderful surprise ! Thank you Beth for sharing my work here.
Piran, Slovenia is a very special place. It is located on the top of a peninsula in the Adriatic Sea between Croatia and Italy.
I painted an alley scene the first time I was there and it hangs in my porch . It is just the right size to cover the fuse box!

That’s a pretty painting and I love the story behind it. Art is so much more special when there’s a personal story to go with it in my opinion.

That was nice of your friend to let you have that! I have a puzzle of a swans under a bridge in a garden that my dad, my mom and I all worked on together for a week between Christmas and New Year’s one year long ago. It’s big and my dad made a frame for it. I also have a picture of a tiger my mom cross-stitched for me with another frame made by my dad. Both are really cool and have great memories attached to them!

I love it too, and it’s so nice you know the artist! We have art on our walls from different places we’ve been…running out of space on my walls! Some of it is art that I’ve purchased from assorted FB or blog friends, I like those the best. None of it ‘goes’ together but I love it all!
