Another Walk in the Woods

9 Comments/ 222/ 1

The weather in North Carolina has been a bit flakey these days. Sunny and warm one minute. Rainy and cold the next. But it is what spring is sometimes like and we get antsy too early for the warm weather to stay around.

I bought my ferns for the decks a few weeks ago and I have been playing the fern game the past week. Hang them up. Take them down. Put them in the garage. Hang them up. Take them down. Pull them up close to the house and cover with sheets. I spent a small fortune on them so I don’t want to risk them freezing and ruining their beautiful fronds.

On a recent sunny day, Chris and I took a walk/hike on our favorite trail that runs next to the Davidson River. There is a nicely graveled path that makes it easy to hike and we usually encounter bikers, runners and lots of dogs and this time was no different. The wildflowers are popping out and some are actually at the end of their blooming season so it was nice to see some of them still hanging on.

There were lots of fisherpeople fishing this bright, sunny day.

Chris loves his coffee…

But what stuck with me the most about this most recent walk in the woods? An unexpected encounter with a man named Aaron who appeared to be living in the forest and a little down on his luck. If you can, say an extra prayer for Aaron today. I am sure he would appreciate it.

What amazing nature pictures! Then be able to bless one of God’s children. It was certainly a blessed day. I will put Aaron on my prayer list.
